Curriculum

First Baptist Schools utilizes the Abeka curriculum, published by Pensacola Christian College in Pensacola, Florida. Abeka is a nationally recognized institution of Christian education known for its strong academic content, traditional values, and commitment to excellence.

This curriculum provides a thorough, Bible-based approach to learning across all subject areas, integrating faith and scholarship in a way that supports our mission of equipping students spiritually, intellectually, and morally. Abeka’s materials emphasize phonics- based reading, strong grammar and writing skills, math mastery, science from a creationist worldview, and a comprehensive study of history and biblical principles.

We are confident that Abeka’s proven, time-tested educational framework helps prepare students for success in college and in life—both academically and spiritually—as they seek to glorify God in all they do.

Bible

Bible study and Scripture memorization are foundational components of the academic and spiritual program at First Baptist Schools. We firmly believe that no education is complete without the study of God’s Word, as true knowledge begins with reverence for the Lord. The Bible says, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge.” (Proverbs 1:7a)

At FBS, the Bible is regarded as our principal textbook, and we interpret all other subjects in the light of Scripture. As Psalm 128:1 declares: “Blessed is every one that feareth the Lord; that walketh in all His ways.” (Psalm 128:1)

Students participate in a structured program of daily Bible instruction and attend chapel services regularly. Scripture study is also integrated into the broader curriculum, enriching subjects such as English, history, and social studies. We view the Bible as the most vital tool in the work of character formation, which we regard as one of the highest aims of Christian education. Among all courses offered, the study of God’s Word stands unmatched in its ability to lay a firm foundation of moral conviction and spiritual discernment.

Every effort is made to apply biblical truth to everyday life and learning, helping students grow not only in knowledge but also in wisdom and faith. The King James Version (KJV) of the Bible will be used in all classes and Scripture memory assignments.
